Reflection
Looking back at my Daily Create activities, I find that they seem to say a lot about the person that I am.
The first was an activity that involved creating a collage that visually depicted my personal mission and vision statements. The process of creating a person mission and vision statement proved really difficult for me. It has often been hard for me to describe myself, or verbalize who I am and what I want to be and/or become. I cannot say that I am settled with the statements that I’ve written. But it was a good start. In the collage I created there is a picture of me, which of course makes this personal. There is a picture of a cake with a graduation hat on top. I am planning to graduate in May so I thought that was fitting to add. Below those two pictures is a picture of a gauge with the needle pointing toward the words “A Bright Future.” After graduation I am praying that this will become my reality. I am a current student member of ATD and hope to become a training professional really soon. That briefly describes the other three pictures in the collage.
Daily Create Activities #2 and #3 go hand in hand for me. The Smore flyer that I created for K&K Musical Productions, Inc. was difficult for me at first. At my current job, I create lots of flyers for events. I have rarely used a tool like Smore that binds you to a template for the flyer. Starting with a blank slate allows me to be really creative in my designs. What I did not know is how the CARP principles play a big part in the creation of visual document. My flyer does contain at least 3 of the four principles. I cannot say that about other flyers I’ve created without the Smore tool. It’s good to have new knowledge that I can use to create better flyers for the events we sponsor at work. The last activity ties into this flyer. It outlines methods for caring for your vocal cords. The Animoto video I produced demonstrates both the modality and contiguity principles, as I tried to gain the best use of words and photos to convey my “chunked” messages. I really like this video and will try and find a way to use it during practices with choirs and singers.
